Out of Network Care
Being An Out of Network Provider
Large corporations and outpatient clinics that solely run on their contracts with insurance companies dominate the physical therapy world. This has been the normal practice for years now, but this is slowly shifting. Insurance companies continue to decrease how much they will reimburse for physical therapy. As a result, clinics have to see more patients in order to meet their bottom line. Often clinics must provide services with support staff.
This scenario might be the type of physical therapy you are used to. You are greeted by support staff, brought back by support staff, see your therapist for fifteen minutes, maybe thirty minutes if you are lucky, then finish with support staff. All physical therapists want to help their patients get better and improve their pain, but not all are provided with the opportunity to focus their full attention on one client the whole appointment. One on one time with a physical therapist for the entire appointment is what we provide at Corrective Physical Therapy.
We provide holistic care with high value physical therapy. You only work with a physical therapist. We are designed to provide you with hands-on therapy you need to get better and get you back to what you love doing. We are able to do this by being an out of network provider. Insurance does not dictate our services.
What Does Out of Network Mean?
Out of Network means we charge a service fee due at the time of service. We do not bill your insurance company. However, we do provide you with a superbill (which is an insurance term, no correlation with the size of your bill). You can submit this to your insurance company and they can reimburse you for our service providing you have out of network benefits. In the realm of physical therapy, the norm is to be seen in an outpatient clinic 2-3x per week for 6-8 weeks with the average number of visits being 12. With our out of network providers, we average 6-8 sessions that are x1 per week. We get clients better faster and with fewer recurrences than your typical PT clinic.
Here is a common scenario. A patient has a high deductible plan with a copay of $50 per visit and needs to be seen twelve times. This patient is already looking at $600 of copays. Following treatment, the patient then receives an unexpected bill for PT services in addition to the copay already paid. Now the patient goes from $600 in copays to paying an additional $100 per session which totals an extra $1200. More often than not, patients end up paying more overall than they would have with an out of network provider.
At Corrective Physical Therapy we strive for high value care that gets you better faster and returns you to what you love most. If you are looking for a change in how your physical therapist provides care, striving for something better, and more hands on you have found the right place.
